Serious Life Magazine....

I wanted you to know about this publication I’m a part of called Serious.Life Magazine. They just published the February issue today, and I am in their Featured Blog Directory. It’s a very high quality magazine… you’ll really like it.

The magazine includes a lot of great content from bloggers you’ll appreciate, as well as great features, photos and other content. The magazine is owned and published by a family who have seven kids, three adopted and one who has Leukemia, (http://www.riggsfamilyblog.com/). The magazine gives away a bunch of ads to charities and ministries. Besides great articles on interesting people, there is a lot about family, adoption, personal finance, spiritual life, humor… all sorts of “life” topics.

Again, the subscription is free, and I know you’ll enjoy the magazine, so take a minute to check it out and sign up to get future issues. http://www.seriouslifemagazine.com/

FFF-"Up"

Today's FFF theme is "up". I had the perfect video, but it wouldn't post so Dillon showing me up will have to do. My original video was of Darr snoring SO LOUD (he had a cold) and it kept me "up" most of the night. He's lucky he got over that cold.

Dillon and the computer....

Poor boy, is basically watching nothing. You have to click on the characters to make them dance. His mouse skills have a ways to go before he will be allowed to do that. Despite that he really enjoyed it. He really loves the Imagination Movers. After computer time he got to color a picture of the Imagination Movers.

Snow day...

Another snow day for the kids and boy it was a rough one! I have a terrible cold and was looking forward to a nap today when Dillon took his. Oh well.....maybe next cold.
Today the girls moved ALL of their American Girl "stuff" upstairs to their bedrooms (which are huge). They have always had the computer room FULL of this stuff. I got the great idea to have them bring it all upstairs (if they wanted too). I only wanted them to bring it up if they would still be playing with it. No since in having all of this "stuff" if they aren't going to use it and if it meant sacrificing a room, I'll do it. So they agreed and they did play up there. What they don't know yet is that they won't have much/anything to clean up each night in the computer room. Bedrooms get cleaned occasionally, so for the most part it will be up to them. A win-win as far as I'm concerned. So with the girls "stuff" mostly gone Dillon can be in the computer room WITH SUPERVISION. He is having so much fun with the train table plus the room looks so much better. I'm not sure what upstairs looks like yet :)

FFF-"New"

Today's FFF theme is "new". Chloe just got her new glasses. Bifocals, so no more looking over the top of her glasses!

I'll explain...

In the last post I posted a picture. (No, it's not a body. Those of you who know I'm a funeral director may have thought "she's lost her mind").... It's our Christmas tree. Actually it has been put away since the beginning of January but I thought it was a funny picture. When the "bag" was delivered by UPS, we were tempted to have Darr lay in the bag, then "surprise" the girls when they came home from school, but decided not to. I honestly don't think it would have surprised them and we would probably have just gotten the old "eye roll".
This morning I discovered Dillon's reindeer (the one he sucks on and truly loves) on the living room floor. It never went to bed last night with him-that's a first. I would have expected a HUGE fit when he went to bed but no. Wow, what a big boy. He was very happy to see it though.

D-Day....

January 16, 2008
January 15, 2009
Today is Dillon's one year anniversary of being home. What a long process it was. I hate to even think about it. When Dillon came home he had the "Guatemalan cough". Lots of kids from Guatemala have a cough, I feel due to the poor air quality. He used to cough every morning and wouldn't you know he woke up coughing this morning (and is a bit grumpy ). Many families call this "forever day". I think D-day is just perfect. :) I don't have a picture from the 15th (I don't think) as we were traveling ALL day, so the 16th will due :)
Happy D-Day Dillon!!!!!

It's official.....

Dillon is officially Dillon Dean Hanks now. We went to court and were pleasantly surprised. Mr. Rotten Security guard was heavily medicated. Perhaps he reads this blog and was just unaware of how nasty he was to us before. Today he was the kindest, most friendly guy you could ask for. Perhaps a New Years resolution?? To be nice to happy, active little boys and their "crazy" parents?? I guess now I will call him Mr. Sweet Security guard, however I don't plan on seeing him again.
Dillon went into the courtroom screaming "hi" to everyone. Maybe twice to everyone :) The judge was great. Everyone in court was so nice and happy. Just as our lawyer told us it would be. She was right, they all love adoptions.

Fun in the snow....

Darr has been taking the kids out to "sleigh" the modern, lazy way....towing them with a four-wheeler. Hey,it works for me. Yesterday they all went. Dillon loved it as much as the girls but I was grocery shopping when he was riding so I don't have any pictures (maybe it's better that way:) Today Dillon is taking a nap, so I just have pictures of the girls.
The dogs are going crazy. They love to chase the four wheeler, but it is too dangerous so they are locked in the house....NOT HAPPY.
Tomorrow is Dillon's big day in court (hopefully I never have to write that again). We are all going so the girls will be a bit late for school. He will have his name officially changed and we will be able to get new birth certificates with his "real" name on them.

FFF-Favorite 2008 Foto....

This weeks FFF theme is for the one favorite foto of 2008. Well of course I have many and my favorite of Dillon's pick up trip is on the other computer, so this will do. This is his first (forever) night with us. Can you believe it has almost been ONE year???? January 15, 2008 Dillon was home in the US.

Happy New Year...

Happy New Year!!!!
Today we are off to the movies to see "The Tale of Despereoux". As you can see, Darr was successful at redoing the blog. We still have a background to change sometime.
